GATINEAU, QC, June 12, 2020 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Labour issued the following statement regarding the collective bargaining negotiations between the Canada Post Corporation and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers:
"On June 11, 2020, mediator-arbitrator Elizabeth MacPherson, issued her ruling, which serves as the basis for new collective agreements between Canada Post Corporation and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).
This closes this round of collective bargaining for rural and suburban mail carriers as well as urban operations employees. We hope the new agreements provide the basis for the development of a collaborative working relationship between the parties as they move forward.
Ms. MacPherson was appointed in December 2018 to assist the parties in reaching new collective agreements. She was required to arbitrate all outstanding issues based on a number of guiding principles that balance the interests of both parties, such as the need to ensure the health and safety of employees and to ensure that employees receive equal pay for work of equal value.
I would like to thank Ms. MacPherson and the federal mediators for their important work."
