Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Presentation of the 2012 Jutra Awards Français
OTTAWA, March 11, 2012 /CNW/ - Once again this year, Quebec cinema claimed the limelight with films that amazed us, moved us, and strengthened our sense of pride.
The Soirée des Jutra is an ideal opportunity to honour the talent and skill of the men and women who shape our cinematic landscape by creating works that reflect our experience, and whose success highlights our culture across Canada and around the world.
I would like to recognize all of this year's nominees and in particular, the producers and nominated films in the Best Motion Picture category:
- Coteau Rouge - Linda Pinet, André Forcier
- Le vendeur - Bernadette Payeur, Marc Daigle
- Monsieur Lazhar - Luc Déry, Kim McCraw
- Nuit #1 - Nancy Grant, Sylvain Corbeil
- Starbuck - André Rouleau
Our Government is committed to supporting Canada's creative sector, and recognizes that film and television production make a significant contribution to our culture and economy. That is why we invest more than $600 million in this sector each year.
On behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to congratulate all the 2012 nominees and award winners. Once again this year, you have given us every reason to be proud of Canadian film.
