Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Presentation of the Canadian Videogame Awards Français
VANCOUVER, April 21, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian videogame industry is an internationally recognized success story. Canada has the third-most successful videogame industry in the world. Our country's videogame-industry professionals have adopted globally minded strategies and are succeeding in world markets—contributing $1.7 billion directly to the Canadian economy and employing 16,000 Canadians.
I am therefore pleased that the Canadian Videogame Awards encourage and reward excellence in Canada's videogame industry.
The following games have been nominated for Game of the Year:
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution
- Assassin's Creed Revelations
- FIFA Soccer 12
- Fight Night Champion
- Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP
For the Innovation Award, which I will have the honour of presenting to the winner, the following games are nominated:
- Battlefield 3
- Cows vs. Aliens
- Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery EP
- To the Moon
- Warhammer 40K: Space Marine
