Statement by the Honourable James Moore on the 13th Annual Port Moody Canadian Film Festival Français
OTTAWA, March 14, 2013 /CNW/ - The 13th edition of the Port Moody Canadian Film Festival opened its doors today to showcase and celebrate some of the best films Canada has to offer. The program for this year's four-day event includes Rebelle (War Witch), the 2013 Oscar nominee and recent winner of 10 Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Motion Picture, Achievement in Direction, and Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role.
Created in 2000 by the Port Moody Film Society, the festival encourages the discovery and appreciation of our rich and creative film industry. Every year the festival offers an exciting variety of genres that display the excellence in Canadian filmmaking. The featured stories and performances provide film lovers with unique experiences and pay tribute to those who contribute to Canada's success in the world's film industry.
Canada is home to a wealth of talented artists and creators who enrich our cultural lives and stimulate our nation's economy. In Canada, our film and television production sector represents over $3 billion annually to the Canadian economy.
