Statement by the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour Français
GATINEAU, QC, May 26, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, the Honorable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, issued the following statement regarding the collective bargaining negotiations between the Canadian National Railway Company and Teamsters Canada Rail Conference:
"Our Government respects, and has faith in, the collective bargaining process. I am pleased that both the Canadian National Railway Company and Teamsters Canada Rail Conference are continuing their discussions at the bargaining table in order to reach an agreement and avoid any disruption of service. Such a disruption could impact the transportation of goods across the country.
Our Government has always supported a fair and balanced process, and federal mediators from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) are assisting the parties in their negotiations. I have been closely monitoring the situation through the FMCS and will continue to do so."
