Statement by the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour Français
GATINEAU, QC, May 30, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, issued the following statement regarding the collective bargaining negotiations between Canadian Pacific (CP) Railway and its unions Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW):
"CP Rail, TCRC and IBEW have reached tentative collective agreements. These agreements were reached through negotiations between the parties with the assistance of mediators from our Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.
This is further evidence that when employers, organized labour, and governments work together and respect the collective bargaining process, we get the best results for Canadians and for our economy.
Our government believes in a fair and balanced approach to labour relations and we thank the parties for their commitment to the collective bargaining process."
