Statement by the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, regarding the death of an RCMP Officer Français
OTTAWA, March 17, 2016 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement:
"On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the RCMP Officer who tragically passed away this morning in Ottawa.
I have spoken with Commissioner Paulson and he has advised me that the Force is providing full support to the family, and also to RCMP personnel as they mourn the tragic loss of their colleague.
The RCMP is working closely with the Ottawa Police Service, which is leading the investigation into the circumstances around the member's death.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time."
