Statement by the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, regarding the death of RCMP Constable Deschênes Français
OTTAWA, Sept. 13, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement following the death of Nova Scotia RCMP Constable Francis Deschênes:
"On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of RCMP Cst. Francis Deschênes, who was killed on-duty yesterday, while providing assistance to a motorist in New Brunswick. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
The death of a police officer is a stark reminder of the sacrifices and bravery of our police women and men who put themselves in harm's way each and every day to keep Canadians safe and secure."
