Statement from the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) regarding the release of Dr. Jake Thiessen's report, a Review of the Oncology Under-Dosing Incident Français
TORONTO, Aug. 7, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, Anthony Dale, Interim President and CEO of the OHA, issued the following statement in response to the release of A Review of the Oncology Under-Dosing Incident by Dr. Jake Thiessen:
"The OHA and its members welcome Dr. Thiessen's report, and thank him for his thoughtfulness and effort.
The chemotherapy under-dosing was a terrible experience for the affected patients and their families. We offer to them today our sympathies and sincere regret. We now we have the facts behind why this incident occurred, and note that the report emphasizes that the actions of the affected hospitals in dealing with this matter when it first occurred were exemplary. We will carefully review each of Dr. Thiessen's twelve recommendations, and the government's proposed actions, as we collaborate in moving forward with measures to address this important patient safety matter. It is essential that all health system partners continue to work closely together to maintain confidence in Ontario's cancer drug system."
