Subaru Canada: 2015 XV Crosstrek One of Five Models to Achieve 2015 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+; All Models Named TOP SAFETY PICK Français
- The 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek joins Impreza, Forester, Legacy and Outback to earn 2015 IIHS TSP+ awards when equipped with optional EyeSight.
- Subaru is the only manufacturer with IIHS TSPs for all models for six consecutive years (2010-2015).
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Dec. 23, 2014 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is pleased to announce that the 2015 XV Crosstrek, Impreza, Forester, Legacy and Outback have now achieved a 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). For the 2015 model year, Subaru newly introduced its front crash prevention system, EyeSight, on the XV Crosstrek. Models equipped with optional EyeSight have achieved a superior rating. Subaru's 2015 XV Crosstrek joins the 2015 Subaru Impreza, Forester, Legacy and Outback as 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award winners able to meet the IIHS' tougher standards for front crash prevention.
"This is the third year in a row that we are giving automakers a tougher challenge to meet," says IIHS President Adrian Lund. "The quest for TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards is driving improvement in the small overlap front crash test and getting manufacturers to offer automatic braking technology on more and more vehicles."
While the bar has been raised for TSP+, the criteria for TSP is unchanged from 2014: a good or acceptable rating in the challenging small overlap front test and a good rating in each of the Institute's four other crashworthiness evaluations — moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints. The 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation is awarded to vehicles that meet those criteria and also have an available front crash prevention system that earns an advanced or superior rating.
Subaru is the only manufacturer with TOP SAFETY PICK awards for all models for six consecutive years (2010-2015). Seven Subaru models, including the Legacy, Outback, Forester, BRZ, Impreza, XV Crosstrek and the WRX STI line, have earned 2015 safety awards from the IIHS.
"This achievement is a testament to the importance we place on safety as we aim to inspire confidence and peace of mind," said Shiro Ohta, chairman, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. "Our unwavering commitment to safety, performance, versatility and durability defines us as a brand and helps us surpass annual sales records year after year."
