TFO and the NFB form partnership to promote production and distribution of innovative works that contribute to development of french in digital markets Français
MONTREAL, Oct. 18, 2012 /CNW/ - Groupe Média TFO and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) are combining their strengths, their expertise, and their willingness to take risks to develop and produce innovative works that will not only contribute to the growth of French throughout Canada but also provide an exceptional showcase for Francophone creative talent from both Canada and abroad. The NFB and TFO have signed their first agreement, which will run for three years and enable them to share their passion for culture, the French language, and new interactive forms of production and distribution.
Under this agreement, the NFB and TFO will intensify their professional interactions and increase their collaboration in all areas of common interest, including production, co-production, and distribution of French-language linear and interactive audiovisual works intended for their respective audiences.
According to Groupe Média TFO's President and Chief Executive Officer, Glenn O'Farrell, "For TFO, the greatest benefit of this partnership is the opportunity that it offers to work with the NFB to develop new digital markets and thereby enhance the circulation and reputation of our educational and cultural content".
Adds Tom Perlmutter, Government Film Commissioner and Chairperson of the NFB, "This agreement is part of the overall strategy for the development of French that the NFB launched two years ago. This alliance with TFO, a respected partner with close ties to Canada's Francophone communities, will directly encourage exchanges of expertise and diversity of approaches, which in turn will stimulate the creativity of artists in the greater French-Canadian community. In the final analysis, it is all Canadians who will benefit."
