MONTREAL, Jan. 25, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The fifth annual Joy of Eating Better Christmas Drive ended in December on a very positive note. IGA, Les Marchés Tradition, and Marché Bonichoix retailers, with the help of their generous customers, are pleased to donate over $1,064,000 in cash and food. The donation - the largest in five years - is the result of the tireless efforts of everyone involved.
Merchants involved in their communities
IGA, Les Marchés Tradition, and Marché Bonichoix retailers believe community involvement is vitally important. For a number of years, they have been forging ties with non profit organizations in their regions. The Joy of Eating Better food drive is a prime example. Retailers in Quebec and New Brunswick are particularly proud of this successful campaign and would like to thank everyone who generously helped out this year to make the drive a success in their region.
New this year
The drive did something new this year. People could choose from two types of $10 bags containing of Compliments products selected by Sobeys Québec nutritionists based on suggestions from Food Banks of Quebec and the Joy of Eating Better movement. The plan was simple: collect, pay, give. It was an easy way for customers to take part in the drive, and around 57,000 bags were purchased and donated to over 250 organizations in Québec and New Brunswick.
The joy of sharing
The Joy of Eating Better movement is based on four pillars: making responsible choices, eating healthier, discovering new local and international flavours, and cooking differently and more often, while never compromising on enjoyment. During the holiday season, this movement means sharing and providing food assistance to numerous families in need.
