WENDAKE, QC, May 21, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Elder Bertha Commanda from Kitigan Zibi Anishnabeg earlier this week. In her capacity as co-chair of the Elders Council, Bertha Commanda, had the responsibility of offering opening prayers at the regular meetings of the AFN National Executive Committee. "I was able to hear first hand her profound interest in issues related to First Nations education and in particular her concern about the state of Aboriginal languages", added Chief Picard.
