Aon Hewitt places the Canadian Internet Registration Authority on list of top employers in Canada
OTTAWA, Nov. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - Aon Hewitt announced this morning that the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), steward of the .CA domain name system, ranks as one of Canada's top small and medium sized employers.
The increasingly important role that the Internet plays in the lives of Canadians has placed the .CA domain name service at the centre of Canada's Internet infrastructure and the organization has scaled-up to meet demands.
"We have made recruiting and retaining the best employees, at the top of their fields, a number one priority at CIRA," said Byron Holland, president and CEO. "Our team works day-in and day-out to nurture a secure and reliable Internet for Canadians and our focus on building a balanced and high-performing workplace culture has helped us remain at the leading-edge of the global Internet."
The prestigious Aon Hewitt Best Employers Study is based on in-depth study of employee and leader opinions by Queen's University school of business, comprehensive external benchmarking, and Aon Hewitt's extensive experience in HR consulting.
This recognition comes at a pivotal time for the .CA team, as the organization expands into emerging product areas and deploys new Internet technologies and programs that will benefit Canadian businesses and consumers.
- Earlier this fall, CIRA launched the D-Zone Anycast DNS service to offer Canadian businesses a uniquely Canadian anycast service that brings DNS resolution closer to end-users, helping to reduce latency and improve online security against DDOS attacks.
- CIRA has played a critical role in developing Canadian Internet exchange points, giving Canadian Internet users a means to more efficiently peer with Canadian exchange points, reducing latency and keeping more Internet traffic within Canada's borders.
- The CIRA Community Investment Program has funded 29 projects that leverage the Internet for positive social and economic development in Canada.
CIRA announced this week that its headquarters will relocate in spring 2015 to the new Lansdowne development in Ottawa, creating a modern and energetic workplace for its award-winning team.
