VAL-D'OR, QC, June 4, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec: listening, reconciliation and progress has announced today that a deadline for receiving new testimonies has been set for September 5, 2018.
The investigation agents will not be accepting new testimonies after this date. Any testimonies received before September 5th will be analysed and treated. It is important to note that 679 files have been opened since the Commission's official opening in April 2017.
In order to complete the visits among the Aboriginal Nations, CERP teams are scheduled to travel to Cree, Inuit and Mig'maq communities until the end of summer. On this day, 244 visits have been completed including 152 information sessions and 92 courtesy visits.
Public hearings in Québec city
During a statement pronounced at the public hearings this morning, Commissioner Jacques Viens has confirmed that the Commission will move its hearings to Québec City from September 4 to 14, 2018. A two-week block will be held at the Centre des congrès de Québec.
