The Employers Council unveils it 2014-2017 Platform and proposes constructive and pragmatic recommendations for Québec's priority issues Français
MONTRÉAL, April 8, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec Employers Council used the opportunity provided by the annual general meeting of its members to publicly release its 2014-2017 Platform, which proposes a series of concrete measures to implement the best possible conditions so that Québec can prosper.
"With Quebecers facing critical issues pertaining to their current and future overall prosperity, it is extremely important to reiterate the potential solutions promoted by employers and the business community to address these issues," stated Employers Council president, Yves-Thomas Dorval. "Moreover, in the current political context, the day after an eventful election, our platform can assuredly be a practical tool to provide elected members of the National Assembly with some food for thought about the ways to make the legislative and regulatory environment more conducive to wealth creation; this is why we urge them to draw inspiration from the guidelines and recommendations put forth in the platform."
The Employers Council is pleased that the employers' concerns it accentuated four years ago in its 2010-2013 Platform, are resonating more and more among decision-makers and the general public. Drawing on this success, the Employers Council is putting an emphasis on continuity in its 2014-2017 Platform by proposing a series of constructive and pragmatic potential solutions in four priority areas of intervention:
- The availability of and accessibility to a skilled labour force.
- Intelligent regulation promoting a competitive environment, notably in terms of manpower.
- Healthy public finances for competitive taxation.
- A sustainable economy based on structural elements.
"Beyond the specific measures we are proposing on paper, it is abundantly clear, however, that governmental efforts in this regard cannot be carried out without social acceptability, which is based on information, education, creating awareness, promotion and transparency," said Mr. Dorval. "It is absolutely essential that the population understands the issues we are grappling with, and that it is more supportive of wealth creation – entrepreneurs and businesses – so that collectively we can make Québec a wealthier, more prosperous society in which the sustainable standard of living would be coveted all over the world."
