POINTE-CLAIRE, QC, Jan. 30, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Aiming to better serve West Island residents and entrepreneurs, Denis Leclerc, Executive Vice-President for Shareholder Services at the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, and Luc Pinard, President and CEO of the Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ, are happy to announce that the Fonds has opened a permanent office at 755 Boul. St-Jean, Suite 110, in Pointe-Claire.
"West Island residents who want to contribute to their RRSP through the Fonds de solidarité FTQ now can visit an office in the heart of the region. There, they will be able to get more information about the Fonds or contribute to their RRSP", said Mr. Leclerc.
"We are happy to offer West Island entrepreneurs better access to financing adapted to their reality and their business projects", added Mr. Pinard. "With our Fonds régionaux Director for Montréal and the Montérégie, François Morier, these entrepreneurs will have access to the Fonds' entire network and its services."
On Saturday, January 31st, Fonds representatives will be at Fairview Pointe-Claire to meet West Island residents and offer information about contributing to an RRSP with the Fonds.
On this occasion, the Fonds will be making a $1,000 donation to West Island Community Shares to mark the opening of the Fonds' Pointe-Claire office.
More than one way to contribute to the Fonds de solidarité FTQ
There are a number of ways Quebecers can contribute to the Fonds and benefit from the additional 30%i in tax credits granted to labour-sponsored fund investors. To get started they can:
In its 2014 budget, the Québec government set a limit of $650 million on the value of shares the Fonds de solidarité FTQ can issue and that qualify for the labour-fund tax credits. This means the Fonds may have to stop issuing shares during the fiscal year, in which case the public will be informed by way of a press release.
This limit does not affect shareholders who contribute through one of the Fonds' systematic saving methods: payroll deduction, contribution negotiated with an employer or pre-authorized withdrawals. These subscriptions will continue to be honoured since the shares have already been set aside.
