CALGARY, Feb. 19, 2014 /CNW/ - David Goldbloom, Chair, is pleased to announce the election of four new members to the Mental Health Commission (MHCC) of Canada Board of Directors.
The new members are:
Janet M. Davidson, Deputy Minister of Alberta Health Ms. Davidson is a well-recognized and respected health care executive with a reputation for working with key stakeholders to achieve outstanding results: individually, organizationally, and at the community level. She has also worked internationally in humanitarian relief and development. Until recently, she was the Official Administrator of Alberta Health Services.
Karen Herd, Deputy Minister of Health for Manitoba Ms. Herd brings a wealth of finance and governance experience to her new role with the MHCC Board. She joined Manitoba Health in 2005 as Executive Director, Finance, and in 2008, became the Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer.
Paul Glover, Associate Deputy Minister of Health Canada Mr. Glover began his career at Health Canada in 1986. He served most recently as Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) of the Health Products and Food Branch (HPFB). Prior to that, he was the ADM of the Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch at Health Canada from 2008 to 2011.
Dr. Michael Mayne, Deputy Minister of Health and Wellness for Prince Edward Island Dr. Mayne brings a research, innovation, and partnership focus to his new role with the MHCC Board. He joined the Government of Prince Edward Island as Deputy Minister of Economic Innovation in 2007. As the Deputy of Innovation and Advanced Learning for several years, Mayne oversaw the implementation of the Island Prosperity Strategy. In 2011, Dr. Mayne was appointed Deputy Minister of Health and Wellness and has acted as the Deputy Co-Chair of the Premiers Working Group of Health Care Innovation.
The MHCC Board plays a key role in corporate governance and oversight of the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
