The National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Artists' Representation / Le Front des artistes canadiens and The Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels du Québec reach an agreement in principle Français
OTTAWA, Nov. 24, 2014 /CNW/ - The National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Artists' Representation / Le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC) and the Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels du Québec (RAAV) are pleased to announce that they have reached an historical agreement in principle on terms and conditions for the exhibition and the reproduction of works of art, as well as the provision of professional services by living Canadian artists at the National Gallery of Canada, pursuant to the federal Status of the Artist Act.
The agreement in principle was reached following four days of intense negotiations in Ottawa. Parties will recommend approval of this agreement to the Gallery's Board of Trustees and to CARFAC/RAAV's membership.
The parties are proud to have reached this ground-breaking agreement to remunerate living Canadian artists, a historic milestone that will undoubtedly contribute to the long-term sustainability of the visual arts in Canada.
