Technical Tours at the Port of Montreal's facilities
As part of ITS World Congress 2017, a number of Technical Tours featuring local transportation facilities and/or projects are available to registered event attendees. The Port of Montreal will also conduct three tours aiming to highlight its innovative Trucking Management and Electronic Navigation Initiatives.
Harbor Trucking Management Initiatives
To decrease its environmental footprint and maintain a competitive level of cargo fluidity, the Port of Montreal recently launched its new trucking PORTal (https://portmtltrucks.com/), a web and mobile application allowing truckers and dispatchers to obtain real-time information of truck wait times. This tour will enable participants to focus on ITS applications in the harbor trucking field and explore most of the Port's facilities, seeing and learning about access control points, truck transaction processes and data capture.
Electronic Navigation Initiatives
This tour of the Port's Operations Control Centre will introduce participants to a wide variety of tools provided by different factions working collaboratively to support ship officers and their crews in planning their voyage, allowing for a safe and effective transit. Participants will also learn about the involvement and focus of the Canadian Coast Guard Marine Portal (CCMP), Automated Identification System (AIS), Dynamic Under Keel Clearance (DUKC), and St. Lawrence Global Observatory (SLGO).
"Technology, Intelligence and innovation are at the heart of the Montreal Port Authority's business strategy. This world-class event brings together in Montreal global leaders in intelligent and transformative transportation to showcase and evaluate the latest innovative concepts, prototypes and systems.
