Donations help Canadian Military and Veterans find jobs in the civilian workforce
TORONTO, May 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Canada Company's Military Employment Transition (MET) Program was given a boost today from Corporate Canada with a donation from the W. Garfield Weston Foundation.
The W. Garfield Weston Foundation presented Canada Company's President Angela Mondou with a cheque for $155,000 to support the MET Program, an initiative developed to assist Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Members, Reservists and Veterans who are seeking to find jobs in the civilian workforce.
"The W. Garfield Weston Foundation, through its support of the programs of Canada Company, is proud to show its appreciation and gratitude to our wonderful Canadian Armed Forces members and their families," said a spokesperson for the Weston Foundation.
The MET Program serves as a bridge between the CAF and Canada Company's "Military Friendly Employer Partners". MET's innovative web-based platform provides educational programs, video and workshop tools and online services to connect veteran-friendly employers from across Canada with transitioning military members and Veterans looking for jobs.
The MET Program has received over $3 million from Founding Partners, including financial institutions, the oil and gas sector and private donations.
In 2014 the MET Program helped 649 veterans find jobs.

Quick Facts:
- The MET Program has grown exponentially since its launch in 2012. Last year the Program helped facilitate 649 hires compared with 35 in the first year. This can be attributed to increased awareness about the Program, more Veterans and Canadian military looking for employment opportunities and a growing appreciation for the varied skill sets of our military and former military.
- The MET Program supports the Canada Company "10,000 Jobs Coalition", which was formed to challenge Corporate Canada to hire 10,000 Veterans by 2023. More than 100 Military Friendly employers are committed to making this initiative a success.
- Canada Company is a federally registered charity created in 2006 that brings together community leaders from across Canada to support members of our military in the work they do at home and abroad. The organization is apolitical and is an advocate for Canadians who serve, or wish to serve, in the Canadian Forces – regular and reserve – and their families, ensuring that they receive the widest possible support, recognition and care.
