Movement Encourages Canadians to Share the Giving Spirit
ST. GEORGE, ON, Dec. 3, 2013 /CNW/ - The Tim Horton Children's Foundation today announced its founding partnership with GivingTuesday, a global movement aimed at harnessing the collective power of a unique blend of partners, including charities, businesses, and individuals, to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season.
On Tuesday, December 3, GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national movement dedicated to spreading the spirit of giving during the holiday season. In the same way that Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become synonymous with holiday shopping, GivingTuesday encourages participants to find new ways to support the charities and causes closest to their hearts. Whether they donate time, money, or support, the individuals and organizations taking part in GivingTuesday are instrumental in spreading the giving spirit and supporting those less fortunate.
"We are excited and honoured to be a founding partner of the first annual GivingTuesday," said Dave Newnham, Vice President, Tim Horton Children's Foundation. "The spirit of giving is a core value of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation, and we are eager to help spread this message throughout the holiday season."
In support of GivingTuesday and the spirit of giving, Canadians can visit TimHortons.com/GivingTuesday to make a donation to the Tim Horton Children's Foundation. In addition, donations can be made in restaurant via the Tim Horton Children's Foundation donation boxes. Every donation is a gift for an economically disadvantaged child.
