Groundbreaking site at TORONTO2015.org celebrates joyful spirit of the Games
TORONTO, Nov. 29, 2013 /CNW/ - The online gateway to the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Games has undergone a technological — and more user-friendly — transformation to make it easier to access content on mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablets.
The year-long project to revamp TORONTO2015.org was led by FUSE Marketing Group Inc. in partnership with its sister company, Soft Gravity Inc. FUSE is the Official Supplier of Web and Social Media Development and Management for the TORONTO 2015 Games.
"Every Games ups the ante when it comes to delivering a world-class digital experience for its fans, athletes and spectators. Thanks to FUSE and Soft Gravity, we now have a fantastic website that sets a new benchmark," said Ian Troop, chief executive officer of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee (TO2015).
"With their expertise, we'll be able to grow, engage and interact with the fan base of the 'People's Games' both here in Canada and throughout the Americas and Caribbean," he continued.
In addition to its more robust structure, the website captures the colourful, youthful and joyful spirit of the Games. The site, packed with more photos galleries and videos, also offers a sneak peek at the official sport pictograms of the Games.
Content, which includes athlete profiles, feature stories, behind-the-scenes looks at the competition venues and fun information on the 51 Pan Am and Parapan Am sports, is available in English, French and Spanish. It is also delivered in an accessible format for people of all abilities.
"TO2015 challenged us to aim very high," said Stephen Brown, president of FUSE Marketing Group Inc. "We knew we wanted to create innovative ways to engage not only with the athletes and visitors coming to Toronto, but also the vast global audience who follow these sports.
"That's why we have used forward-thinking technology and communications strategies to position TORONTO2015.org as its audience grows as the Games approach," he added.
The website's groundbreaking redesign is an important step towards its Games-time role, when it is anticipated traffic will jump from 200,000 to 175 million page views a month in the summer of 2015.
In July and August 2015, TORONTO2015.org will be the ultimate authority on the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games with comprehensive, unbiased coverage of competition results and medal standings in near real time. It will also be an invaluable resource for spectators and other visitors to the Games' region.
The site was developed with responsive design principles on Soft Gravity's proprietary CMS platform, unroole™, enabling it to render consistently on all devices, while supporting the massive traffic spikes expected during the Games.
The platform gives publishers the freedom to write and change content, look and feel, and some of the integration on a page-by-page basis. A unique "time machine" component means editors can experience the site from any time vantage point, be it in the future or the past.
