Tom Mulcair Addresses National and International Labour Activists at Steelworkers Conference Français
VANCOUVER, April 17, 2013 /CNW/ - Tom Mulcair, Leader of Canada's New Democrats and the Official Opposition in Parliament, will address 650 labour activists Thursday, April 18, at the United Steelworkers National Policy Conference in Vancouver.
Mulcair will be the featured speaker Thursday at the Steelworkers conference at Vancouver's Westin Bayshore Hotel and Conference Centre. He will address delegates Thursday at 2 p.m.

United Steelworkers (USW) members from across Canada have been joined by international labour leaders and social justice activists for the USW's 52nd National Policy Conference.
In addition to Mulcair's keynote address, conference delegates will hear Thursday from Jyrki Raina, General Secretary of global labour federation IndustriALL that represents 50 million workers in 140 countries, as well as Napoleon Gomez, Leader of Mexico's Los Mineros union who has been exiled in Canada for seven years.
Also on Thursday, representatives of First Nations and Chinese communities will join conference delegates for a panel discussion on the scandals and court challenges created by the Harper government's Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
The Temporary Foreign Worker Program will be debated Thursday at 9 a.m.
The United Steelworkers has launched legal proceedings in Federal Court to challenge the Harper government's approval for temporary workers to replace existing employees at RBC.
The USW also has played a leading role in exposing the Conservative government's approval for hiring temporary foreign workers for mining jobs in British Columbia even though hundreds of Canadian applicants were not even granted interviews.
