QINGDAO, China, Jan. 12, 2015 /CNW/ -- At CES 2015, a "head-on collision" occurred between ULED TV, represented by China Hisense, and OLED, Korean brands like Samsung and LG, which indicates a competition on display is touch and go.
Hisense launched the new generation of ULED technology as its staple on the ring, whereas Korean brands such as Samsung and LG's major push was curved 4K and OLED, both camps with their own distinct offense and defense. These three enterprises may also be the top three players on the 2015 global market.
Since TV ushered in the era of flat panel, technology has made slow progress, and innovation in display technology and market competition have since become more and more fierce. On the one hand, OLED products with their advantages of thinness, light-weight, self-illumination and genuine color gamut, represented by Samsung and LG, used to be the racing focus of TV makers, but technological researches over the past few years haven't overcome their defects of short lifetime, high costs and difficulty in mass production. Differing from these two enterprises, Hisense's ULED technology is steeped in the genre. This type of product was released last year, supported by Hisense's self-developed LED back-lit LCD TV image enhancing technology, which was comparable to OLED in terms of contrast, color rendering, high-speed response but more affordable. The G2 ULED products displayed at this show were incorporated with new elements like curved surface, quantum dot on the basis of the original, making the image quality and the effect of performance as good as the other two brands.
Consumers around the world will benefit from the increasingly intense competition between enterprises.
