MONTRÉAL, June 7, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Gaz Métro welcomes the unveiling of the bill on implementing the 2030 Energy Policy, which solidifies the government's vision announced earlier this spring. This new milestone brings us closer to the deployment of anticipated measures to achieve the targets Québec has set, particularly in developing an attractive economic climate and a lower-carbon economy.
"The creation of a new company, Transition énergétique Québec, will make it possible for all sector stakeholders to work together toward one vision and share results in innovation, transition and energy efficiency," explained Stéphanie Trudeau, Vice President, Strategy, Communication and Sustainability. With our proven expertise on this subject, Gaz Métro will certainly be able to contribute significantly," she added.
"In addition, the bill tabled includes, for one, an amendment to An Act respecting the Régie de l'énergie, which will facilitate the implementation of promising projects, such as injecting renewable natural gas into the network. For another, it includes an amendment allowing the acquisition of additional natural gas transportation capacity. This additional flexibility is necessary to encourage large industrial companies to set up in Québec and to allow the ones already here to abandon oil and coal in favour of a cleaner energy choice."
"When the bill is adopted, we will be happy to collaborate on implementing these measures in order to keep taking solid action thereafter," states Ms. Trudeau.
