Use of green flashing lights for volunteer firefighters - Quebec Liberal Party MNAs support the proposal made by volunteer firefighters Français
WAKEFIELD, QC, Feb. 16, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Stéphanie Vallée, MNA for Gatineau, along with her colleagues from the Liberal parliamentary wing, support volunteer firefighters in their effort to enforce the article from the Highway Safety Code allowing for the use of removable green flashing lights during emergency situations. This would enable firefighters to be more visible when they are brought in as reinforcements, and to work in a safer environment during a disaster.
"The safety and visibility of our volunteer firefighters during emergency situations is of the utmost importance. The use of green flashing lights will make their work easier, and allow them to respond to these challenges. This new tool will reduce the response time during emergency calls," mentioned Mrs. Vallée.
Following an initiative from Lieutenant Jason Prévost, a volunteer firefighter in the municipality of La Pêche, Stéphanie Vallée filed a petition at the National Assembly on February 12, asking the Quebec government to apply the article from the Highway Safety Code that allows the use of removable green flashing lights for volunteer firefighters.
"It is with pleasure that I announce to volunteer firefighters of every region of Quebec, that all Liberal MNAs support this request wholeheartedly. We are convinced that once applied, this request will help better protect our volunteer firefighters and the citizens of our regions," concluded Stéphanie Vallée.
