QUÉBEC CITY, April 5, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Desgagnés and its subsidiary Relais Nordik wish to inform the population of the Middle and Lower North Shore that the arrival date of the Bella Desgagnés has changed due to severe weather conditions encountered during the Atlantic crossing. Storms with wind ranging from Beaufort force 8 to Beaufort force 10 and waves up to 9 meters compelled the captain to reduce the vessel's speed, and thus, the Bella should dock in Halifax on April 9, following which it will proceed to Blanc-Sablon. The ship's itinerary can be followed live by visiting the website position.desgagnes.com.
"Although the schedule is changed, the familiarization trip on the Coast will proceed as planned, albeit with a few days delay," said Mr. Louis-Marie Beaulieu, Chairman and CEO of Desgagnés. "We made a commitment to the citizens of the Lower North Shore and Anticosti Island that they would be the first to discover the Bella Desgagnés, and we will honor this commitment," he added.
Despite the delay and inconvenience, Mr. Beaulieu said he was "very pleased to learn from the master and the crew that the ship behaves very well and say they are highly satisfied with the performance of Bella, as much as regarding stability and maneuverability as for its comfort."
Due to these circumstances, the familiarization tour and visits schedule on the Lower North Shore and Anticosti Island, as well as the date of the christening ceremony in Sept-Îles will be adjusted accordingly, and a more precise schedule will be released in the coming days.
