Canadians Encouraged to Share Their Summer Fun and Tweet #GreatGiving
MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 2, 2016 /CNW/ - Summertime get-togethers give us the opportunity to be grateful for the good health of the people we love and inspire us to give to causes that help people in our communities. With food often at the heart of these celebrations, Great Value, a line-up of products providing families with affordable, high quality grocery options and available exclusively at Walmart, is launching its #GreatGiving program to support Children's Miracle Network during the month of June.
According to a survey commissioned by Great Value, Canadian parents who give to charity incorporate giving into their family traditions because they feel it's important to give what they can (82%), they like to help people (78%) and it makes them feel great (49%). With children (92%) and health (73%) being the causes that matter most to charitable parents, Great Value is amplifying Walmart's annual campaign in support of Children's Miracle Network, and its 14 children's hospitals across Canada.
Great Value is encouraging Canadians to share their summer gathering fun over social media and add the hashtag #GreatGiving. From now until June 24, for every tweet featuring the hashtag #GreatGiving, Walmart Canada will donate $1 up to a maximum of $100,000 to Children's Miracle Network.
"Great Value's goal is to help Canadian families focus on quality time together with great food," said Paul Goldsmith, senior director of brand management, private brands at Walmart Canada. "With Canadians enjoying summer gatherings, it's the perfect time to offer an opportunity to easily donate to a worthy cause like Children's Miracle Network – and we hope they'll agree."
"At Children's Miracle Network we are constantly inspired by the generosity of Canadians," said Adam Starkman, Chief Development Officer at Children's Miracle Network. "We're excited to see Great Value, Walmart Canada, and their customers come together in support of the more than 4,900 kids who are cared for by our member hospitals each day. Anyone can make a difference in the lives of children by donating, and sharing a #GreatGiving message."
Survey Methodology
The survey was conducted May 3 and May 11, 2016 via LegerWeb. A total of n=1,007 Canadian parents with children under 18 who donate time or money to charity were interviewed using the online survey. A sample of this size would yield a margin of error of +/-3.1%, 19 times out of 20. Discrepancies in or between totals are due to rounding.
