PLUS: "The Cup of Good Deeds" video debuts as #WarmWishes campaign continues
OAKVILLE, ON, Dec. 1, 2015 /CNW/ - On December 1 and December 2, Tim Hortons restaurant owners across the country will randomly surprise guests with $5 TimCards, and encourage those guests to pay it forward and share the warmth, all in the spirit of #WarmWishes. The Tim Hortons #WarmWishes holiday campaign is about recognizing the good deeds that Canadians are doing for one another and reflecting that generosity by helping to spread even more warmth and acts of kindness in our communities.
Every day, Canadians embody the essence of the #WarmWishes campaign by stepping up to help one another. This spirit of generosity and kindness was at the heart of the #WarmWishes kick-off event on November 16 in Grimsby, Ontario. We asked the local residents what they would do to spread good will with others this holiday season, and with the help of some friends, we turned their wishes into reality. Requested deeds ranged from a young girl wanting coffee delivered to her hard-working father, to a visit of therapy dogs to a seniors centre, and from a gift of a TV and games for a youth centre, to a truckload of winter coats and necessities for the Grimsby Benevolent Fund, a local charity that supports residents in need. A video documenting the outpouring of kindness and the fulfilling of a few of the deeds was released today and can be viewed at YouTube.com/TimHortons.
"We were overwhelmed by the generosity we experienced that day," says Stacy Elia, Executive Director, Grimsby Benevolent Fund. "Tim Hortons #WarmWishes campaign gave our holiday food and clothing drive a welcome and much needed kick-start, and the donations will directly benefit the hundreds of families and individuals that we serve."
"Tim Hortons annual #WarmWishes campaign is influenced by the good deeds that our guests do all year round and even more so around the holidays," says David Clanachan, President and COO, Tim Hortons. "So many of our guests have been sharing their inspiring good deeds on Twitter and Instagram with the #WarmWishes hashtag, and with today being Giving Tuesday, we want to keep the momentum going and show our gratitude. Our restaurant owners will be randomly gifting five dollar TimCards today and tomorrow at our restaurants coast-to-coast."
With each good deed that has been shared on social media since the campaign launched, users have received a unique entry for a chance to win a $5,000 donation to a charity of their choice. Tim Hortons has also been engaging guests and social media fans with weekly themes. Remaining themes include: Brighten Someone's Day, Lend a Helping Hand, Spread Cheer and Give Back.
To participate in the campaign, guests can share the good deeds that they are doing on Instagram or Twitter by mentioning @TimHortons with the #WarmWishes hashtag. Whether it's holding a door open, reaching out to an old friend, baking cupcakes for colleagues, or donating clothing to a shelter, all deeds big and small will help spread warmth. Guests are also encouraged to visit TimHortons.com/WarmWishes to see what other Canadians are doing to share their #WarmWishes.
