MONTREAL, April 8, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Aluminium Association of Canada welcomes the election of a government whose priorities are the economy and the regions. According to its President and Chief Executive Officer, Jean Simard, "There is much to do to give Quebec the impetus required to turn around the natural resources and large manufacturing sector. We will definitely work with the new government to accelerate this recovery, which our economy and our regions so badly need."
Mr. Simard also said that: "Investors and the markets need an early, clear signal that Quebec is reverting to stability and predictability in the area of resource development and intends to support a competitive industrial sector."
The political stability that comes with a majority government and the dynamics of a strong, well-balanced opposition should also help Quebec move forward over the next few years. It is crucial that action be taken to facilitate economic development.
