In an ad, what would help you to easily determine the total price of an airline ticket?
OTTAWA, Feb. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - This is the question that the Canadian Transportation Agency is asking Canadians so that they can have a say in the regulations that will establish how air service prices are advertised in Canada.
We are actively seeking the views of Canadians using an innovative online platform that allows people to post their own ideas, comment on the ideas posted, and/or indicate which ones they like best.
Our online consultation will be held until February 26. What we hear through our consultation will help the Agency in the drafting of the regulations. The Agency will then publish proposed regulations in Part I of the Canada Gazette, which will provide a further opportunity for input.
Why are we doing this?
The Government of Canada announced late last year that the Canadian Transportation Agency will proceed with developing regulations requiring air carriers to include in their advertisements all costs to the carrier, as well as all other fees, charges and taxes.
The intent of the new regulations is to ensure greater transparency and allow consumers to easily determine the total price of an air service—before they make their purchase decision.
