MONTREAL, May 31, 2015 /CNW/ - The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) awarded William (Bill) Carney, a public relations consultant and editor, with the 2015 CPRS Lamp of Service. Carney was recognized for his dedicated service to CPRS and the public relations profession, exemplified through the recently published text, Fundamentals of Public Relations and Marketing Communications in Canada. He was presented with a framed certificate on May 31 during the opening ceremonies of the CPRS National Conference in Montreal, QC.
"I am pleased to accept this award on behalf of the 19 authors who wrote the individual chapters for Fundamentals of Public Relations and Marketing Communications in Canada," said Carney. "They delivered first class work that will benefit future generations of students, and they did so as part of their commitment to the profession."
Carney was instrumental in overseeing the funding and editing of the Canadian textbook, providing public relations students and work professionals with a solid resource focusing on Canadian public relations and marketing communications case studies.
"His personal commitment to this project was outstanding," said Mark LaVigne, MA, APR, FCPRS, Carney's nominator for the award. "He was responsible for securing sponsorship funding as well as serving as managing editor of this new textbook. The text reflects CPRS values and CPRS members' approach to the practice of public relations in Canada."
The CPRS Lamp of Service is awarded to a CPRS member whose personal activities and/or leadership and dedication have resulted in the advancement of the Society.
