WINDSOR, ON, Sept. 19, 2013 /CNW/ - On September 16th, 2013 members of the Windsor RCMP concluded an investigation into the sale and distribution of contraband tobacco products in the Windsor area. As a result of the investigation two Windsor men were arrested and are currently facing charges under the Excise Act 2001.
During the course of the investigation, officers stopped a vehicle which was found to contain approximately 540 cartons of illegal cigarettes. The vehicle used to transport the illegal cigarettes was also seized.
Charged are:
Robert Lacombe (Age 50)
Hasan Ali Muhammad (Age 32)
"The consequences of dealing in illegal tobacco products are serious. Offenders are liable to substantial fines, confiscation of their property and prison terms of up to five years" stated Insp. Cote of the Windsor RCMP Detachment.
The accused in the matter are scheduled to appear in Windsor Provincial court on December 9th, 2013.
