Xebec Successfully Completes Phase Testing for Removal of High Nitrogen and Oxygen levels from Landfill and Waste Water treatment Gas Français
BLAINVILLE, QC, May 7, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Xebec Adsorption Inc. (TSX: XBC) ("Xebec"), a provider of biogas upgrading, natural gas and hydrogen purification solutions for the clean energy market, announced today that the company has successfully completed its initial phase testing for removal of high levels of nitrogen (N2) and oxygen (O2) in landfill and waste water treatment digester gas.
Xebec's current BGX biogas upgrading plants deploy single stage advanced kinetic pressure swing adsorption (kPSA) technology, capable of removing low to medium levels of N2, O2, and Carbon Dioxide (CO2), while maintaining superior recovery rates. The current technology has successfully proven its ability to remove medium levels of N2, O2 at the biogas upgrading plant at the Escondido WWTP at the Hale Avenue Resource Recovery Facility in Escondido, California.
The completion of this new phase test program has allowed Xebec to increase its N2, O2 removal capability, and has validated the performance of high nitrogen and oxygen removal of up to 15% nitrogen in the feed biogas. Xebec will finalize the design and complete the phase testing using a two-stage PSA process, which will achieve targeted recovery rates of >90% with >10% nitrogen concentration levels in the biogas feed stream, within the next 8 months.
Kurt Sorschak, President and CEO of Xebec said, "We are very pleased with the initial phase test results which verifiably demonstrate that our biogas upgrading technology will remove high levels of nitrogen and oxygen with exceptional recovery rates. After the successful completion of the test program in the second half of 2012, Xebec will offer customers an upgrading solution that will remove high levels of N2 and O2 from landfill and waste water treatment gas with superior recovery rates than currently available on the market. This will directly translate into increased revenues and profits for our customers, and make our products more competitive compared to power generation and other upgrading solutions. Xebec is focused on the landfill and waste water treatment segment, since both generate biogas with medium to high levels of nitrogen and oxygen, and it is in these segments that Xebec's upgrading solutions offer a clear competitive advantage to our customers."
